Privacy and data

Privacy notice for this room-request site

I keep this notice plain because privacy should not feel like a locked office door. This page explains what I collect when you use this independent site, how Google Tag Manager may help me understand visits, when I share a room request, and how you can ask to see, correct or delete your information.

Who is responsible for this notice

This website is an independent guide and room-request desk for stays connected with Cascades Casino Resort Langley and the adjoining Coast Langley City Hotel & Convention Centre. It is not Coast Hotels, not Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, and not BCLC. I explain that separation more fully on the about page and the how this site earns page.

For privacy purposes, I treat the information you send through this site as personal information under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, known as PIPEDA, and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act, known as BC PIPA. Those laws ask private organizations to collect only what is reasonable, use it for the reason it was collected, protect it, and give people access to their own information.

The short version is this: I collect information so I can answer your room request, pass it to the hotel or booking partner when needed, keep a practical record, and maintain the website. I do not sell your personal information.

Information I collect from you

When you use the request a room form, I may collect the details you choose to provide. That can include your name, email address, preferred language of reply, travel dates, number of guests, room wishes, accessibility or pet notes if you include them, and any message you write in the form.

Please do not send payment card details through the request form. The form is meant for a room request, not for taking a deposit or completing a hotel booking. If a booking is available, the booking relationship is between you and the hotel or booking partner, as explained in the site terms.

If you write to the editor by email, I collect your email address and the contents of your message so I can reply. If you ask a privacy question, I may keep enough of the exchange to show how the request was handled.

I also receive ordinary technical information when you visit the site, such as pages viewed, approximate time of visit, browser type, device type, referring page and general diagnostic data. This helps me notice broken pages, understand which guides are useful, and keep the site readable for guests planning without a car or in French.

Google Tag Manager and site measurement

This site may use Google Tag Manager. Google Tag Manager is a tool that helps load and manage website tags, including measurement tags. It does not itself create a hotel booking or collect a room request from the form, but tags managed through it may process visit data so I can understand how the site is used.

That measurement data is used in a limited way: to see which pages are visited, whether readers move from a guide to the request form, and whether the site is working as intended. I use it to improve pages such as getting there without a car, the Coast Hotel guide, and the site’s French pages.

Your browser may give you controls for cookies, tracking protection or similar settings. If you block some tags, the main content should still remain available. The room-request form may still require basic technical processing so that your request can be delivered.

How I use and share room-request data

I use your room-request information to read your request, clarify it if needed, and send it to the hotel or booking partner that can respond about availability, rates or reservation steps. I may also use it to follow up with you about that same request.

I share personal information only as needed for that purpose, unless the law requires something else. In ordinary use, that means sharing your request with the hotel or booking partner that can handle the stay. I do not share request details with unrelated advertisers, and I do not use your request to promote gambling.

Some service providers may process information for hosting, email delivery, form handling, spam prevention, analytics or security. They receive access only as needed for their function. Because internet services can cross borders, your information may be processed or stored outside British Columbia or outside Canada, where it may be subject to lawful access rules in that place.

Casino entry rules and responsible-gaming checks are not handled by this website. If you want factual information on the gaming floor, I keep that separate on the casino floor, factually and responsible gaming pages.

Storage, retention and security

I keep room-request information only as long as it is reasonably needed for the request, follow-up, recordkeeping, site administration, fraud or spam prevention, legal obligations, or dispute handling. I do not keep it longer simply because storage is easy.

As a practical matter, request records may remain in email, form logs, backups or partner correspondence for a period after the stay dates or after the request is closed. Backups may take longer to cycle out than active records. If you ask for deletion, I will delete or de-identify what I reasonably can, unless I need to keep a limited record for legal, security or accounting reasons.

I use reasonable safeguards for the size and nature of this site. No website or email system can promise perfect security. Please keep that in mind before sending sensitive information, especially health, identity-document, payment or other details that are not needed for a first room request.

Your choices and privacy rights

You may ask to access the personal information I hold about you, correct it, withdraw consent where consent is the basis for use, or request deletion. I may need to confirm your identity before acting on the request, especially if the request involves a room enquiry or email record.

To make a privacy request, write to the editor email shown on the site’s contact or about page. Tell me the email address you used, the approximate date of your request, and what you would like me to do. I will answer as carefully as I can and within the time required by applicable privacy law.

If you are not satisfied with the response, you may have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, depending on the issue. I hope we can sort out ordinary corrections and deletion requests directly first.

This notice may be updated when the site changes, when the request process changes, or when the law requires clearer wording. The current page is the version I rely on for new visits and new room requests.
